The head of a red goat, decorated with golden flowers, fills the whole face of this decorative plate against a field of fine gold scrollwork. It is hard-paste porcelain on the Ellipse shape by A. P. Nikitin, 19.5 cm (7.7 in) across and 2.7 cm (1.1 in) high.
The factory marked 2027, the Year of the Goat in the Eastern calendar, with a small, limited New Year series.
Sergey Sokolov paints in a recognizable manner of his own, reworking traditional Russian folk painting in bright color. The plate can stand on an open shelf or a console, hang on a wall, or take a place on a holiday table.
Wash by hand, and keep it out of the dishwasher and microwave. The factory mark is on the base. Made in St. Petersburg, Russia.
