The Imperial Porcelain Factory makes this flat oval platter in hard-paste porcelain, on the Youth shape. Cobalt Net is applied to the surface as an underglaze decal and finished with painting in 22-karat gold; the rim has a smooth edge.
It is 28 × 20 cm (11 × 7.9 in) and 3.8 cm (1.5 in) high.
Anna Yatskevich (1904–1952), who created Cobalt Net, painted porcelain at the factory from 1932 to 1952. Her painting of the Cobalt Net tea set won a gold medal at the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair, and her work is in the Hermitage and the Russian Museum. The Youth shape is by Anna Leporskaya (1900–1982), Honored Artist of the RSFSR and a student of Kazimir Malevich, who joined the factory’s art laboratory in 1948 and stayed until 1982.
