This square bowl holds two servings of salad. It comes from the Imperial Porcelain Factory and is made of hard-paste porcelain on the Youth shape, decorated with a Cobalt Net underglaze decal and gold painting.
Each side measures 13.7 cm (5.4 in). The bowl is 5.7 cm (2.2 in) high and holds 350 ml (11.8 fl oz).
Anna Leporskaya (1900–1982), Honored Artist of the RSFSR and a student of Kazimir Malevich, designed the shape. From 1948 to 1982 she created shapes for tableware and vases in the factory’s art laboratory. Anna Yatskevich (1904–1952), who created the pattern, spent two decades at the factory as a porcelain painter, from 1932 to 1952, and her Cobalt Net tea service won a gold medal in Brussels in 1958.
