Cobalt Net is painted by hand on this sugar bowl, partly under the glaze and partly over it, with gold. The bowl has two handles and comes with its lid; it is cast by hand in hard-paste porcelain on the Tulip shape. The Imperial Porcelain Factory has produced it since 1951.
It holds 450 ml (15.2 fl oz), measures 15.6 × 10.8 cm (6.1 × 4.3 in), and stands 11.2 cm (4.4 in) tall.
Anna Yatskevich (1904–1952) created Cobalt Net. She received the Order of the Red Star in 1944, and her Cobalt Net tea set won a gold medal at the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair. The Tulip shape is by Serafima Yakovleva (1910–1993), Honored Artist of the RSFSR. She designed it in 1936, and for decades it remained one of the most popular shapes, best known in Cobalt Net. Work by both artists is in the collections of the Hermitage and the Russian Museum.
