Anna Yatskevich’s Cobalt Net appears here on Eduard Krimmer’s May shape, as an overglaze decal finished with painting in gold. Both pieces are thin-walled bone china from the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg, and the cup has a smooth glazed rim.
The cup holds 165 ml (5.6 fl oz) filled to the brim, roughly 10–15% less in practice. It is 8 cm (3.1 in) long, 6.8 cm (2.7 in) wide, and 7.7 cm (3 in) tall. The saucer is 12.1 cm (4.8 in) across and 2 cm (0.8 in) high. Bone china has a milky tone, and colors can vary from screen to screen.
Krimmer (1900–1974) was an Honored Artist of the RSFSR, and his May cup was the first shape to be cast in bone china. Yatskevich (1904–1952) painted a Cobalt Net tea service that won a gold medal at the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair.
Wash by hand with a liquid detergent and a soft sponge to keep the gold intact. Not dishwasher or microwave safe.
