Here Anna Yatskevich’s Cobalt Net is set on the Wave shape by Eduard Krimmer. The teacup and saucer are thin-walled bone china from the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg; the pattern goes on as an underglaze decal and is finished with painting in gold, and the rim of the cup is glazed smooth.
The cup holds 150 ml (5.1 fl oz) filled to the brim and stands 6.2 cm (2.4 in) tall; the saucer is 12.1 cm (4.8 in) across. Bone china has a milky tone that may look slightly different on screen.
Krimmer (1900–1974) studied under Kazimir Malevich, worked at the factory as a painter and sculptor from 1950, and was an Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Yatskevich (1904–1952) painted porcelain at the factory from 1932 to 1952; her Cobalt Net painting for a tea set won a gold medal at the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair.
Wash by hand with a liquid detergent and a soft sponge to protect the gold; a dishwasher can dull or wear the gilding over time. Not for use in the microwave.
